‘Words From Warrior Women’ Celebrates the Power of Poetry and Recovery
WE:ARE, in partnership with Poetry Prescribed, is proud to announce the release of ‘Words From Warrior Women’, a collection of poetry written by survivors of Domestic Violence.
Our published journey started in 2019 When Jacky heard Miss Yankey perform her poetry at the International Women’s Day march in London Trafalgar Square Infront of thousands of people.
She was so touched by her words that she immediately got in touch and was able to set up workshops.
The poems soon came flowing. Lockdown struck, but the workshops carried on the poems just kept coming.
Miss Yankey suggested publishing a poetry pamphlet and as more and more poems came in, our book was born.
Self-published, the book is supported with a forward by Jess Phillips MP, Shadow Minister for Domestic Violence and Safeguarding. “Helping women who have suffered abuse to find the words to truly express their experiences is no small thing… Language and words are the greatest tools in the abuse of women.”
“We are thrilled to share this powerful collection of poetry with the world,” comments Jacky “The words within these pages are a testament to the resilience and strength of the women who have participated in our workshops.”
Words From Warrior Women is now available for purchase here.
